I love…picnics! And with Summer in full swing here in England, what better way to celebrate than having a picnic?
In preparation for the picnic season I decided to make my own picnic dress using some vintage fabric my Grandma gave me. I wanted a quick and simple project after my corset so I chose pattern N from the Stylish Dress Book 3. There are a few modifications: I shortened the length, omitted the frills and also changed the neckline. What inspired me to do that was verypurpleperson’s version of the dress, where I think the neckline is perfect. I like the way the dress looks very sixtie’s style, and is so comfortable! An interesting feature in the pattern is the way the bottom part of the dress is separate from the top in order to make way for the pockets. You cannot see it because of the fabric, but I like it as it gives the pockets a more scultural look.
Anyway, enough chat. Here is my picnic dress:

Very cute! I love the neckline. What makes it even better is that it was fabric from your Grandma– that makes it more meaningful.
Such a cute dress!
And I just noticed how much you look like my cousin!!
Absolutely cute! I love its 60s style. The fabric looks really good on you!
Very pretty. I love how you cut the fabric on bias on the neckline..and all your pictures are nice.
You’re right! This is the perfect 60′s picnic dress. And the pictures are great.
Lovely! What an appropriate dress for a picnic!
This is beautiful! The dress and the pastoral accessorizing, I mean.
