Today was my first proper day at college, and it was so much fun! It was so refreshing and inspiring to be surrounded by people who are as obsessed as I am with fashion. I cannot wait for the rest of the course now!
Anyway, I decided on Monday that I wanted to make a new dress to wear for college. I had a slight brainwave on how to use some vintage fabric I picked up in a tiny shop just off Brick Lane and so set to work. I was out most of the afternoon yesterday, so had to stay up til about midnight sewing on the buttons!
But I was really happy with the result and I have to say, I think it is my favourite! I got a lot of compliments too which made me happy ^.^
The pattern is one I completely drafted myself; basically a copy of a cute smock dress I bought from Topshop, but I added a peter pan collar and an open back. There are also little white flower buttons all the way down the back. I love this pattern and think it will be really versatile to make more dresses. I already want to make another in black with a leopard print collar (or possibly green, like the Topshop coat)!

It is so pretty! The finishing looks impeccable too!
The collar is so cute! I love the fact that it is light pink! The buttons in the back are such a great touch!
Top shop is a great inspiration. I think that you should go for green and leopard print. You will completely pull it off.
Congrats on starting College. I miss it so much!
You look really cute in your new dress. I can imagine you got lots of compliments!
Wow I love the buttons ! And open-back dress is great, as usual :)
This dress is a-mazing, loving this look!
Hiya,
Loving your work as usual – you’re an inspiration for me to dig into my stash again and again…
I came across this website earlier this week and thought of you: http://www.thesustainablestylist.com/
Good luck with your new studies!!
Hello!
Thank you for your comment – I really appreciate it :)
Thanks so much for the link! I’m really impressed by their style and values, it’s something I would love to try (only buying sceondhand) but I don’t think I could ever manage it. I am always seduced too easily whilst shopping ;)
I love discovering new interesting blogs and it was so kind of you to think of me.
this dress is amazing
i really love your blog
Thank you!
I just took a peek at your blog and…your photos put mine to shame ;) I don’t read much French but I don’t need to – I love your style!
Aww, such a cute outfit! The dress looks great, of course, but I also really like your shoes. Brogues are already cool… but floral?! Oh goodness. :)
Such an adorable dress! The outfit looks great. I really like your bag by the way. (: Where did you find it?
Thank you! The bag is one I picked up in one of my local vintage shops. It is in pretty rough condition but that makes me love it even more ;)
