back to school

Today was my first proper day at college, and it was so much fun! It was so refreshing and inspiring to be surrounded by people who are as obsessed as I am with fashion. I cannot wait for the rest of the course now!

Anyway, I decided on Monday that I wanted to make a new dress to wear for college. I had a slight brainwave on how to use some vintage fabric I picked up in a tiny shop just off Brick Lane and so set to work. I was out most of the afternoon yesterday, so had to stay up til about midnight sewing on the buttons!

But I was really happy with the result and I have to say, I think it is my favourite! I got a lot of compliments too which made me happy ^.^

The pattern is one I completely drafted myself; basically a copy of a cute smock dress I bought from Topshop, but I added a peter pan collar and an open back. There are also little white flower buttons all the way down the back. I love this pattern and think it will be really versatile to make more dresses. I already want to make another in black with a leopard print collar (or possibly green, like the Topshop coat)!

The collar is so cute! I love the fact that it is light pink! The buttons in the back are such a great touch!
Top shop is a great inspiration. I think that you should go for green and leopard print. You will completely pull it off.
Congrats on starting College. I miss it so much!

Thanks so much for the link! I’m really impressed by their style and values, it’s something I would love to try (only buying sceondhand) but I don’t think I could ever manage it. I am always seduced too easily whilst shopping ;)
I love discovering new interesting blogs and it was so kind of you to think of me.

  7. Aww, such a cute outfit! The dress looks great, of course, but I also really like your shoes. Brogues are already cool… but floral?! Oh goodness. :)
